Trump Imposes Oil Blockade on Venezuela
Trump revealed the operation through a Truth Social statement on Tuesday, characterizing it as "a total and complete blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers going into, and out of, Venezuela."
"Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest armada ever assembled in the history of South America. It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before – until such time as they return to the United States of America all of the oil, land, and other assets that they previously stole from us," Trump declared.
The declaration arrives after Washington's recent military seizure of a major petroleum vessel near Venezuelan waters—a notable escalation involving direct armed intervention against the nation's energy exports.
Trump has additionally designated Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's administration as a "Foreign Terrorist Organization," alleging its petroleum revenues finance criminal enterprises and destabilize hemispheric stability.
Washington "will not allow a Hostile Regime to take our Oil, Land, or any other Assets, all of which must be returned to the United States, IMMEDIATELY," the American president stated.
This development unfolds as US warships concentrate throughout Caribbean waters, with Trump threatening military operations against suspected "narcoterrorists" inside Venezuelan borders. Since September, American forces have conducted lethal strikes killing over 80 individuals during raids on suspected cartel vessels, which Trump alleged were deployed by the Venezuelan government to "flood" America with narcotics.
Venezuelan authorities have rejected accusations of narcotics involvement, condemning the military actions as a "colonialist" scheme to overthrow Maduro and seize the nation's resource wealth. Caracas has further charged Washington with "state piracy" and pledged to protect its sovereign territory and natural assets.
